The Business Corporation as a Political Actor

Barbara Bziuk

Barbara Bziuk is a PhD Candidate in political philosophy and economic ethics at the Ethics Institute, Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies of Utrecht University. Within the Corporatocracy project, she works on a theory of social justice for corporations, investigating questions related to the corporate duties of fair income distribution and taxation, among others. Before joining Utrecht University, Barbara received her Master’s degree in PPE at the University of Groningen, and the Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Social Sciences at Humboldt University of Berlin.

part from the topic of her PhD research, Barbara’s academic interests include: epistemic justice and political epistemology, financial ethics and political theory of finance, economic methodology and the history of political and economic thought.

She is also interested in the influence of literary fiction, and pop-culture in general, on people’s conception of justice and ethics, qualitative research as well as communication with the non-academic audience.

As a member of the PhD Council of the Dutch Research School of Philosophy (OZSW), Barbara would like to contribute to making academia more inclusive and epistemically diverse.
