The Business Corporation as a Political Actor

Work in Progress: Philipp Stehr

I have just finished a first draft for a paper on the corporation and theories of class. It springs from my impression that political theories of the corporation have very little to say about how to achieve change in corporations besides calling for stronger regulation. I thus wanted to draw on a Marxist theory of class to see whether and how we can understand the class structure of the modern corporation. Such a conceptualization can then allow us to identify the constellations of material interest and power relations within the corporation to better understand who can be an agent of progressive social change in the corporation.
